Barnetby Silver Band Christmas concerts

THIS year’s Barnetby Silver Band Christmas Concerts are being held on Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19, at Barnetby Village Hall, Silver Street, from 7.30pm.
Also featuring Barnetby Junior Band, admission to the concerts is by ticket only, and these are available by calling (01652) 688695.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £4 for concessions, and include refreshments. There will also be a raffle.
New players are always welcome and anyone wishing to join either of the bands can contact Hayden or Cheryl Ellams on (01724) 289880.

Mince pies and coffee

MINCE pies and coffee will be on offer when Scawby’s St Hybald’s Church holds its Christmas event at the Sutton Arms on Saturday, November 28, from 10am to 11.30am.
Admission costs £1.50 and there will be a Christmas parcel stall, cake stall and a raffle.

Call my Bluff raises £195 for Help for Heroes

Winterton and District Mens Probus Club held a Call my Bluff evening against the Ladies Probus at the Bay Horse Winteringham. The Ladies defeated the Men by 4 - 2. Including a raffle £195 was raised for Help for Heroes. A pleasant evening was spent by all which included a buffet supper. Thanks to all who took part, donated raffle prizes and to Andy and Terry at the Bay Horse.

Charity Line-Dance

DANCING fans are can grab their partners for a do-se-do while raising charity cash.
A line dance is being held on Saturday (Nov 14), from noon to midnight at Brumby Hall Sports and Social Club on Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.
The Hot Stompers event, featuring Kay D, is in aid of the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s disease.
Optional dress is 1960s/1970s disco with a prize for the best outfit.

Reminiscence Group

THE newly formed Reminiscence Group, for anyone aged 60 or older, is looking to boost its numbers at the next get-together.
The group will meet at North Lincolnshire Museum in Oswald Road, Scunthorpe, on Thursday, November 26, from 10.20am to 11.30am.

Charity fashion show

A FABULOUS fashion show dedicated to filling charity coffers will be held next week.
Staff at Brigg Garden Centre will be swapping woollies and wellies for glitz and glamour when they take to the catwalk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care on Thursday, Nov 19.
The show has been organised by the garden centre in conjunction with Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
Staff will be modelling ladies’ and gents’ daywear and evening wear, including a newly launched Christmas collection.

Cookery workshop

TEMPTING vegan and vegetarian recipes will feature at a cookery class next week.
The hour-long workshop will be held on Tuesday at Community Café, Church of the Holy Spirit, Willoughby Road, Scunthorpe, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Ferry 5 run

Fitness fanatics can take part in the Ferry 5 run on behalf of the Lindsey Lodge Hospice care centre.
The Burringham Road based hospice has five places lined up for people wishing to run in the Ferry 5, a five mile run at Owston Ferry, near Epworth, on Sunday, December 13.
The charity hopes that each runner will raise at least £100 for the charity.
