Autumn Fair
A GRAND autumn fair will be held in Brigg on Saturday (Oct 17).
The event, at Brigg Methodist Church in Barnard Avenue, will run from 10am to 2pm.
It will include a Cash In The Attic-style auction at 11.30am, as well as children’s painting competitions, various stalls and a raffle.
A 50p admission fee will apply, with all proceeds going to Macmillan Nurses and church funds.
Ploughing Tournament
AN ANNUAL ploughing tournament will be held at Worlaby Top, near Brigg, this weekend.
The 32nd annual event, organised by the Barton-Upon-Humber And District Ploughing Society, is to take place at Northwold Farm on Sunday (Oct 18).
It will include horse ploughing, classic and vintage classes, static displays and trade stands.
Refreshments will also be available at the event, which will run from 10am to 4pm.

Spooky Walk
DISCOVER the spooky sights of Brigg in a Halloween ghost walk.
The event is being organised by the Brigg Amateur Social Historians (Bash) and it forms part of the group’s programme of events for the autumn season.
The ghost walk will take place on Saturday, October 31, setting off from The Nelthorpe Arms in Bridge Street, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £3 each, while children under seven can take part for free.

Antique-themed quiz
A QUIZ themed entirely around antiques is to take place next week.
The quiz night will be held in Wrawby Village Hall on Friday, October 16.
Quizzers are asked to bring their own bottles and corkscrews to the event.
Tickets cost £10 which includes a supper prepared in the hall’s newly refurbished kitchen.
The fun includes a raffle with some top prizes.

Wrawby's History
HISTORY buffs hoping to uncover the secrets of the past can learn about the last 200 years of history at a special workshop.
Wrawby Village Hall is to host an evening event entitled The First 200 Years, which is a chance to research family history and the village’s past.
All are welcome at the session, to be held on Tuesday, October 20, although booking is essential.

Wrawby Lunches
MAKE friends at a lunch open to the Wrawby community next week.
Village hall lunches, which were held successfully last year, are now up and running again every Tuesday.
The get-togethers are held weekly and will run until December 8, when the season ends with a Christmas party.
The menu includes soup and hot drinks, available for a minimal price.
All ages are welcome, with last year’s sessions attracting everyone from pensioners to mums and babies.
A recent appeal has provided a boost for the village hall kitchen, with a new range and equipment.
Coffee morning
ALL Saints’ Church, Winterton, will hold a coffee morning on Saturday (Oct 17).
There will be a range of stalls selling cakes, raffles and much more.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event, have a chat and look around the church.
The event will take place from 10am to noon.
Ladies' Lifeboat Guild
SCUNTHORPE Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild will meet on Wednesday, October 21, at 7.30pm at the Conservative Club in Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe.
The guest speaker at the meeting will be from R&J Chocolates.
Admission is free and the evening will include a raffle.
Book-binding advice
CONSERVATION expert Susan Wood will visit the North Lincolnshire Central Library in Scunthorpe on November 11, to offer advice on book binding and restoring treasured family heirlooms, such as bibles and maps.
