Grand Day Out
A GRAND day out for free has been organised for families this Sunday (Oct 11) at the North Lincolnshire Museum as part of its 100th anniversary celebrations.
Children have the chance to win prizes for their drawings and craft work at the museum, in Oswald Road, Scunthorpe, between 11am and 3pm.

Charity Line Dance
A CHARITY line dance is being held on Saturday, November 14, from noon to midnight at Brumby Hall Sports and Social Club on Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.
The Hot Stompers event, featuring Kay D, is in aid of the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s disease.
Optional dress is 1960s/1970s disco with a prize for the best outfit.
Tickets are available for a noon to 6.15pm session which includes pie and peas (£6); 6.15pm to midnight, featuring Kay D (£6); or all day (£10).

Amber Exhibition
AN EXHIBITION of Baltic amber is being held at Waters’ Edge Visitors Centre, Barton-Upon-Humber, over the weekend of October 24 and 25.
The Wonder of Amber shows various stages of this fascinating resin.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase brown and green amber jewellery from an extensive range made by a local craftworker.
Admission is free.
Epworth Ghost Walk
THE next Epworth Ghost Walk has been arranged for October 14 at 7.45pm from the town’s Queen Street.
The experience is not recommended for children aged under 10 years.
Admission is £4 for adults and £3 for under 16 year olds and includes home-made soup.

Motown Night
A CHARITY Motown night will seek to raise money for a Scunthorpe nursery school.
Making Tracks Theatre Company is staging the night on Saturday, October 17, at the Redbourn Club in Cemetery Road, Scunthorpe.
All proceeds will be donated to Peekaboo Day Nursery in Messingham Road, Scunthorpe.

BRIGG and District Flower Society is to host an open meeting on Wednesday, October 7.

Telescope Workshop
KEEN stargazers can attend a telescope workshop at Far Ings Visitor Centre, in Barton-Upon-Humber.
The event will take place on Saturday, October 31 at the centre, on Far Ings Road, from 2pm until 6pm.
It will demonstrate the different types, alignments and reflectors in modern telescopes, to allow beginners to choose the right scope for them.
There will also be the chance to look at the evening sky through the centre’s own telescopes at the event.
The course is suitable for adults and older children and places are priced at £10 each, which includes hot drinks and refreshments.
Ranger Ramble
A RANGER ramble will take place from Water’s Edge Country Park and Visitor Centre on Saturday, October 10 from 10.30am.
The five-mile ramble is free of charge.
Participants are reminded to meet at reception by 10.30am and wear appropriate footwear and clothing.

Railway Correspondence and Travel Society
THE Railway Correspondence and Travel Society will host its latest bi-monthly regional meeting on Tuesday, October 13.
The meeting will be held at The Star, Rochdale Road, Scunthorpe, and starts at 7.30pm.
The evening is open to non-members and will include a presentation on the transition from steam to diesel-powered locomotives on British railways from former railway worker Tom Greaves.
