Local professional Musician returns home to Grimsby Auditorium
As a young lad growing up in Grimsby during the 1970's, my early musical aspirations were forged by all the wonderful bands that were around town at the time. Does anyone remember the Brothers band? are any of them still around now i often wonder? what became of those wonderful musicians like Steve Newby and Mick Mortimer, Alex Bontoft et al? One thing is certain, they instilled in me something that would never go away, and they never even knew about it!
Nurse runs in memory of uncle
My name is Louise Haley and i have recently qualified as a staff nurse at DPOW hospital Grimsby. Last August my Uncle Don Revell died, due to complications from his long term paralysis.
Wildlife beneath the dark canopy
At the next meeting of North East Lincolnshire Photographic Society the renowned wildlife photographer Dr Michael Leach will be giving a talk entitled "Beneath the Dark Canopy" in which he will be showing images from his many travels in the World's tropical rainforests to explain how the forest works and how some of the highly specialised animals survive.
trouble brewing for BEWA's Trojan
Rumors are circulating over the increased hiring of security for the up coming 'Ascension' event staged by Grimsby based BEWA Wrestling (www.bewa-wresling.com) on April 10th.
When questioned about the reasons, an official spokesman denied concerns over an unscheduled appearance by PWA's dynamo Spyda. Although not scheduled to appear, or linked to the company in any way, it is well known that Spyda has 'unfinished business' with BEWA Wrestling’s newest signing, the brash wrestler Trojan.
where there is a will
Sue Ryder Care in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire is encouraging people to write a Will and leave a gift on that will to charity when they die.
The charity, which has a neurological care centre Holme Hall in Holme upon Spalding Moor and the charity shops in Scunthorpe, Horncastle and Lincoln decided to raise awareness because one in four people in the UK die without writing a Will - leaving the Government to decide how their estate is divided up.
Caught out Again!
Walking from Laceby towards Swallow, The snow falling heavily no grit on the roads cars going sideways round Laceby roundabout What a scene!
As we aproached Irby top Cars were struggling to get up the hill, so we took it upon ourselves to use the salt bins and grit the road by hand , not one car that stopped had a shovel.
Hopefully we helped to get people up the hill and stopped any serious accidents.
Dishonest driver
I would like to nominate Rat of the week to the lady driver of the Vauxhall Corsa who reversed into my car then drove off! I was attending the Diana Princess of wales hospital A&E department with my 6 year old daughter at the time. I would have been none the wiser, but I found a note on my windscreen from a very kind and vigilant person who witnessed the whole incident. Luckily for you Ms Blue jacketed, pink scarf wearing 2008 Corsa driver ( number plate known!) I had my car checked and there is no damage so I have decided not to report to the police.
