President Mrs Gillian Green introduced Mr Mike Ramsden, guest speaker for the evening. Mr Ramsden gave an enlightening talk on the work of 'The Lions'. He explained that 'The Lions' is an international charitable organization with numerous branches around the world. Mr Ramsden informed members of the fund raising activities adopted locally and the way in which the money raised is spent to benefit local charities. Mr Ramsden was thanked by Mrs Gillian Smith.

Tough Girls Conquer Kilimanjaro

5 tough ladies, 3 from Grimsby and 2 from Vancouver, Canada recently conquered the mighty heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, 2 of whom raised money for Help for Heroes and one Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. The ladies were: Tina McKay, Lesley Parry, Tonia Saunt, Dawn Tonge and Mary-Jane Broad.

All had an incredible experience but one which they would not like to attempt again soon.

Surge in interest in digital photography

Cleethorpes Camera Club continues to attract photographers in the area to it's popular meetings. A new Monday morning group meeting at 10am until 12.30pm caters for beginners and those who can't make it to our evening meetings. The Tuesday evening digital photography section starts at 7.30pm and is for experts and beginners alike.
Thursday evening is video night and Friday is general photography.

The weekly charge is £2.50, and annual membership is £20 if you decide to join the club after a few weeks.

Halloween Display

I am holding a Charity Halloween Display in aid of The Macmillan Suite and A1 ward of Diana Princess of Wales Hospital Grimsby.

The Display will commence at 4pm 31/10/09 until 10pm

All visitors are welcome to come and have a look around.
Although donations would be appreciated they are by no means necessary.

Army Cadet going "great guns"

Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force took part in Exercise Colts Canter 09, hosted by HQ 15 (NE) Brigade at Strensall Barracks on 10-11 October. Also taking part were teams from County Cadet Forces in Cleveland, Durham, Northumbria, Yorkshire N & W, and also from Durham & Northumberland Air Training Corps.

Support Jake's Walking Fund

Jake Storr an local eight year old who suffers from Cerbral Palsy, and his family and friends are trying to raise £40.000 to have surgery in America that will give him the chance to walk independantly. Currently Jakes struggles to walk with a frame and sticks and also uses a wheel chair, but this surgery has fantastic results and involves removal of a spinal bone and releasing the nerves, and the muscles around the area's of stiffness.
Family and friends are planning various fund raising activities but would like to hear from anyone who can help them.
